INGRID Call: live-verified on a real phone

INGRID Call reached its first real-world milestone today: a live phone call with INGRID, verified end to end on a real phone rather than only in a test harness.

• Secure remote voice conversation. Connected over a private, encrypted network link — never the public internet — a real, two-way voice conversation with INGRID herself now works from a phone: she hears what’s said and answers back, live. This is a call with INGRID specifically, not a messaging or calling feature between other people.
• The live camera feed stays up during the call. INGRID’s camera view keeps streaming to the phone for the whole call, so her camera feed stays visible the entire time.
• Recovers from the phone locking. Locking the screen or switching to another app mid-call no longer silently kills it. The call now tells a genuinely dropped connection apart from a phone that’s simply backgrounded, and reconnects on its own once the phone is active again — verified across repeated real lock and app-switch cycles today.
• The video recovers too. The camera feed does the same: it survives being backgrounded and comes back live instead of staying frozen on the last frame it showed.

All four of those — the call connecting, two-way audio actually reaching both ends, the connection genuinely staying alive rather than just appearing to, and the video recovering — were verified against real hardware today, not simulated.

INGRID Call runs over INGRID Link, the same secure phone-pairing system already used to bring INGRID’s live camera feed to a paired phone. This is a development milestone, not a release: INGRID Call isn’t part of a public build yet, and there’s more work ahead before it’s ready for anyone outside active development to rely on.
